What not to wear, home edition

Here they finally are, some before shots of the main living areas of the house.  If you tend to have a weak stomach, now might be a good time to stop looking:)  Above is the front door entryway.  Great potential as it is well lit with high ceilings.  But as you can tell, friends will not be welcome here, since Brad is removing the wall decal that says they are.  So bug off.  Only kidding, we will hang a light fixture that will imply that friends are welcome.

Living room area.  What is up with this yellow color on ALL the walls?!?  It is just so drab and gives everything a weird, dark, sour look.  The first few times we toured this house we thought those swooshes on the wall were just being created by light reflecting off of something.  When we started moving in, we realized that NO, they are there permanantly and on purpose.  Someone put them there, ON PURPOSE.

This is a weird kitchen angle, taken standing in front of the sink and directed at the dining area (which is a tad on the small side.  I have big dreams of adding on to the back of the house and extending the dining area.  We're talking 10+ years down the road).  Take note of the cupboard that is totally obstructing the view.  Also, take note of those bangin' yellow coutertops.  Gag.  Those, however, don't disappear quite as easily as unwanted cupboards.  Those will require someone to give me a very sizeable monetary donation.

Here is a more clear view of the dining area.  Wallpaper?  Chair rail?  Textured walls?  Blech.
Here are the top five-ish things we want to or have changed about these areas.
1.  Remove all wallpaper/chair rail/decals.
2.  Take down room dividing kitchen cupboard.
3.  Paint all walls a unifying, calming tone
4.  Paint all trim, baseboards, window sills, and doors white
5.  Replace the chandalier in the entry way with something more fun

Numbers 1-3 are pretty much complete.  Number 4 is proving to be a pain in my rear.  Number 5 has a hatched plan that I am very excited about.  There are things I'd like to do beyond this, but these 5 things will make the overall effect of the main living spaces much more flowing and serene.  As soon as we can conquer number 4, I will start posting some "after" pictures.
